VOLUNTEER PROGRAMME

Alongside the many professionals who will ensure the smooth and efficient running of The United Nations Conference on Climate Change in Doha there will be another group of local people who will make a key contribution to the success of this huge event. They are the 1000 eager volunteers who have been recruited to help.

Look out for them in their distinctive white or blue uniform emblazoned with a V. They have all been assigned to a variety of tasks and locations and are there to help anyone who needs a helping hand.

With more than 15,000 participants from around the world, COP18/CMP8 is the biggest event ever hosted by Qatar and a historic 'first' for the conference as well. The 2012 sessions will mark the first time the gathering has been hosted in the Gulf Region and the first time a major energy-producing nation has led these important discussions.

Volunteers who give their time and talent are key to the success of this prestigious event and an important element in demonstrating the spirit and commitment of the State of Qatar.

The COP18/CMP8 Volunteer Programme is made up of a diverse workforce of people of all ages and backgrounds working across a variety of roles and task areas. They have all received thorough training and can be relied on to carry out their duties to the highest standards. Volunteers on the programme are representing COP18/CMP8 Doha to the world, and are required to adhere to this code of conduct.
